Virginia Statewide Crosswalk Inventory

VDOT's snapshot statewide crosswalk inventory displays the spatial location of all crosswalk facilities in the Commonwealth of Virginia including those on the VDOT network, locality network, and private parcels. Point features represent the centerpoint of each crosswalk facility in Virginia and is attributed by crosswalk type. Crosswalk attribute types are coded as follows in the attribute table:

• 1: Transverse lines
• 2: Double paired
• 3: Longitudinal bar
• 4: Diagonal
• 5: Perpindicular bar
• 6: Other

This data layer was created using VGIN's Most Recent Aerial Imagery Basemap and covers sidewalk facilities along the Virginia LRS (Version 25.1) with 100% accuracy and most facilities off of the LRS are captured with 90%+ accuracy. This GIS layer was originally created based on data from a one‑time statewide inventory collection in 2026 and will only be updated on an ad‑hoc basis when verified information for specific locations become available as well as annually by October 1st per a statewide review of new crosswalk facilities.
